Instagram Launches Threads a Stand-Alone Messaging App

Posted on November 18, 2019 by John Hardy

Hello, everyone. Derek from tatango.com. If you notice right here, we have a new app
called Threads. This is from Instagram. Why am I talking about this? It is a stand-alone messaging app. So, very important for people in messaging. If you’re familiar with Instagram, you know
it’s photos first, and then messaging has become very, very popular, but it’s really
been second to photos. So, Instagram, which is owned by Facebook,
just today launched Threads. I’ve got Threads installed on my Android device. I tried on my iOS device and it said it wasn’t
available so that’s why I’m using it here. So, I’m gonna click Threads, and as you can
see, it’s a pretty clean design. My photo would usually be there. You can put statuses. And it was, kind of, interesting. Actually, it looks like, I think, if I click
here… I’m still kind of getting used to it, but
if I go to Status, I can actually, like, set my status for what I’m doing, and then it
actually will Auto Status. So, I’m guessing, based on location, if I
continually hit up this area for pizza, it will just auto-update everybody, which is,
kind of, cool. Okay. So, let’s quickly go through. Chatting is relatively, you know, the same
as like a WhatsApp or text messaging, very simple. One of the things I found that was really
cool is the photos. So, if you go up to the top, this is kind
of a cool kind of thing that you can do here. So, first off, you have your, like, top friends
here, I think you could put eight of them. So, if I just wanna send a photo right now
to one of my friends, and let’s say they’re in my top eight…let’s say I wanna send it
to this person down here, all I have to do is just click on the person, and that essentially
took the photo and then I just flick up and it sends the photo to them. So, again, let’s just click right there, okay? It already took the photo. Flip up, send it to them. So, relatively simple. So, kind of marrying messaging with photos. Anyway, that’s the new Threads app from Instagram,
from Facebook, but interesting that Instagram, known for photos, is now launching their own
stand-alone messaging app.

This is really good for people that want to use different apps to do different things or even the same thing and to take up more room on my phone basically it helps you multitask even more than you already are. Fantastic thanks Facebook and Instagram hopefully you can make a app just to do filters and an app that just does memes!!!! Good work developers keep up the good work 👎🏽
