Hello everyone! Welcome to my channel I invite you to follow me on social networks Subscribe to my channel and activate the notifications bell We are going to pleat a piece of fabric by
hand to make smocking embroideries This is an option if we do not
have the smocking pleater Tools and materials: Ruler,
pencil/chalk of dressmaking,a piece of fabric,
needle, sewing thread and scissors We can only pleat which has the embroidery and if the skirt is included, the chest is pleated To know how much fabric you need to pleat put the ruler at the end of the fabric and with a pencil or a chalk of dressmaking in this case, I will use a pencil and I draw a dot each centimeter vertically until the end of the fabric if it’s with chalk we’re going to do it the same way or we can also use dressmaking pencils you can get them where sewing implements are sold these are easier to remove of the fabric now at the other end of the fabric we also draw a dot every centimeter vertically I will connect the dots of both ends with a line I drew lines using the previous dots In this way, I mark them with chalk now at the top line I start to mark a point every half centimeter I do it until the end of the fabric Now, I do the same at the last line every half centimeter I draw a dot I will connect the top dots and the bottom ones this is the width of each pleat so I connect them until we finish them all when the fabric is marked with this sewing thread of 2 strands for better resistance and with
a long and smooth needle I pass the needle through the first dot of the fabric at the first line and pull out through the second dot then I pass it through the third dot and pull out through the fourth dot repeat the process one stitch above and another one below and so on when I already passed it over the entire line at the following line I do the same at the top with this piece of thread for tie up the guide the above stitches are all the same and the below ones, each one aligned so continue with this line
to the end of the fabric so, do the same on the other line so we continue for every centimeter passing the guide this way well, I have already the fabric with the threads note that must be aligned: stitches above and stitches below to make perfect pleats this is marked with chalk If the fabric has definite front and back.
Then is marked by the reverse Let’s tie up: Take the first 3 guides, we make a knot tighten it, then, cut the long threads so, tie up all each 3 guides now, on the other side take the first 3 guides and pull them,
that’s how the fabric is being pleated and tie up also with a knot and then cut it here the remaining thread take the other 3 guides and make the same so I continue until tie up every guide and the pleating is good that’s how the fabric is pleated if it’s white cloth, moisten it and
apply baking soda and lemon drops and wait 15 minutes then scrub it and apply soap, depends
on your preference and rinse it we can also wash it before pleating so it’s washed easier if it’s a color fabric, we wash it with soap and if it’s marked with dressmaking
chalk, it’s removed only with water when it’s dry, iron it vertically
for pleating adequately that’s how the fabric is ready to
embroider with smocking this is a very beautiful embroidery,
ideal for girl dresses and we can make different designs I hope you liked this video Thank you, see you soon.
